Family physician in the Bronx, NYC for about 35 years.
Washington Square Park, New York City
"I am a family physician in the Bronx for about 35 years. I am much older than I look. I have my own practice and there is some good news I would like to give. For what is worth, our american academy of family physicians is in favor of universal healthcare. One step more, our academy of New York State is firmly in support and in favor of universal care. Period. So there is a little hope. Some of you might not remember, the problem with the healthcare used to be a little bit different. For those who were uninsured , or more, for people who worked without insurance... about 25 years ago, Wall Street decided that it was time that not-for-profit insurance companies should be sold for stock. And here we are, we now have a system based on stocks. If what we do doesn't raise the stock price, we don't do it. So healthcare is now a thing of the past. With middle class joining the poor and struggling for what it used to be available. Our health plans look just like Chase, look just like Citibank and are no more interested in you than those companies. So single payer, like Vermont*... this could happen here. We family physicians are behind it. Thank you."
*Vermont became the first state to lay the groundwork for single-payer health care.
trade the FED for free healthcare?
Seems foodstamps would be better for getting organic food as preventive care:)
