This is Jimmy Webb on his fat behind performing live on 'Later With Jools Holland' 'Wichita Lineman' in 1998. He really does make a bloody meal of this song.Give me Glen's version anytime!!

  • Whoever posted this with those hateful words: You are an idiot. Jimmy Webb is a genius. How many masterpieces have YOU penned?

  • It always strikes me as strange when people compare other peoples versions to the version of the person who actually WROTE the song,if it wasn't for Jimmy there wouldn't BE other versions. He is the one with the inspiration, this song came from his head.

  • stop trying to rate and compare who sings what and how perfectly and start listening to feeling and soul and expression. you can play or sing all the right notes, right on pitch, in perfect timing, and not be making "music". i adore jimmy's singing, it is beautiful and reaches something inside me makes me feel so good, his piano playing is out of this world and captivating, his songs are enchanting beyond belief.

  • I agree with everyone here - a fabulous song by Jimmy - but it will always be Glenn's, his version is incomparable.

  • WOW Jimmy what a song. What an inspiration. If only one could only bottle inspiration and give it to all, so they could feel it with their hearts and touch it with their souls, the world would be such a better place.

  • @milestoneexpress Asshole..

  • @renegadegl I suppose you could add Springsteen. You are correct of course.

  • @eblanaken Yeah, but Bob Dylan couldn't either, and they can both write songs that will last forever...

  • the vocals are a little uneven. The piano playing is brilliant, and the composition, well unbeatable.

  • Jimmy Webb also wrote for the 5th Dimension. Wichita Lineman is and always will be my all time favorite.

  • @greasemonkey1228 Wow great comment, yes I see what you mean.
