Alcohol damages many organs.

-Congenital heart defect

-Neural tube defect

-Limb defects

-Eye diseases

-Ear defects

Unfortunately, placenta is not a barrier for alcohol.

Fetal Alcohol Syndrome is a damage of the CNS (Central Nervous System) with plenty of consequences that are revealed as the baby grows up.

Professor Hieronim Bartel is the director of the Department of Histology and Ultrastructure of tissues at the Medical University of Lodz. Previously, he was a rector and a dean of the Military Academy in Lodz. For almost half a century, he deals with embryology and the study of malformations. He is the author of over 130 works, a laureate of numerous awards and a member of many scientific societies. In the last decade, FAS was in the center of his interest.
