@gillmore2011 Back in the 80's it was a new thing. When something is new it's very popular, hence you had thousands of members in NYC alone. It's been 32 years since the group started. The Guardian Angels are still all over NYC but you don't run into them as much.

To hell with the politics and niceties about 4th amendments rights etc, Heading for home on the last subway train on a weekend full of drunken people i'd rather the G.A. were THERE than NOT. I'm black, work hard, keep away from drugs, crime, and buy my ticket on the train/bus, but i'm also SO ashamed at the niggers who terrorise the subways and buses and who are killing us black folk both in NAME by their crimes and sadly sometimes in BULLETS. @tapout320 If he brandishes a weapon, we have a right to take it away. Then he has a second knife. Then blames us for setting him up, then blames the fact that he is a black man. Now if you want to arm someone like this, I suggest you start letting your family ride the CTA trains. Until then, those are the laws here in Chicago. So many people get robbed by people who use knives. Wake up, this is the City not some quiet community with no mass transit.
