http://www.ThatsMyDog.com This is a case study with a seven month old Border Collie who came to us with pretty severe fear issues. She enrolled in a two week board and train program. Footage shows progress over the two weeks time frame, including her first day of remote collar training. The goal of this video is simply to show that a remote training collar can be used successful as part of a program in rehabilitating fearful dogs. Food, touch, praise, toys and many other components are a successful part of training.

  • Are you using the Lou Castle method, where you throw on continuous and pull the dog in and then turn off the collar to get the dog to like you quickly(b/c you're the safe zone)?? I would've liked to see video of this dog at a strip mall with lots of people. It's one thing to be in a training facility and a whole other to be out in public.

  • @BobTempleton2 No, that is not what I am doing. Next time I'll video out in public, good idea. fwiw, Marley has gone on to live a happy and stable life.

  • @ThatsMyDogInc Robin, this is among those few videos which my friends really really liked. Do you feel just watching your dvds one can get this result? or are there those subtle points we cannot see? But all in all , a lot of people in working dogs here are impressed by this & other videos by TMD.

  • @aviniti301 The dvds are very basic. It will expose the viewer to a good introduction of how I use the e-collar. It is great info for the basics of teaching the obedience and emphasis the important of how I "help" the dog understand what stim means. Like all good training through there are nuances. I need to develop more materials that discuss those points. I suggest people e-mail me if they have questions and need more help after viewing the dvds.

  • I cannot believe how a dog with such fearful behaviors can be responding in 10 days with any type of training. Let alone aversive methods! This has to be an editing trick!

  • @steveale1 It is not an editing trick. It is not any type of trick. It is what I do and what I am very good at. We do this type work all the time. It is why I am putting these video out on Youtube and why I teach other trainers to get the same results. I teach here at my place and do workshops all over the country, come visit or come to a workshop and see it for yourself.

  • Can you please show the actual progression of the training, instead of just before & after? Also, no voice overs, so we can hear the handler & hear Marley. I see her exhibiting a few stress signals (yawning, displacement, avoidance) so I am interested the actual "transformation"? Particularly since you mentioned that you use an aversive method (remote/shock collar ) but also positive tools like praise, food, toys, & play. I would be interested to see how you do both pos/neg simultaneously

  • I don't usually agree with e-collars... although if this is the last resort and on low voltage level, and helps the dog, that's good work right there. I dislike when people use shock collars in abusive way :\

  • awesome!!!!!

  • @ThatsMyDogInc Are you planning on coming out with more training dvd's? Maybe one on how to deal with a dog thats reactive on a leash or dealing with other bad behaviors. Maybe a dvd on dog aggression?
