I pulled out the tele, cranked up the reverb and figured to have fun with some surf tunes. So what came out was..........a Sinatra tune. Go figure. I don't know if Frank was a big tele fan, but I know he loved Tony Mottola. I loved Frank and Tony both, so this is dedicated to them.
A version of this is on my cd 'Late Night at the Kick Back Lounge',

  • Very nice. Big Frank and Tony fan here. I actually came across old reel to reel tapes of Mottolas ' Mr Big' and 'Romantic Guitar' and transferred them to cd and they are so clean and crisp. I enjoy them almost everyday on my Ipod.

  • thanks, @quailblaster

I had Romantic Guitar as a kid. great album. If I remember, it had a nice version of Speak Low. I had another one with all Italian songs, the title I forget...

I have an old book with a bunch of Tony's arrangements. One day i'll post a few.

  • Salut,

Don't know why YTube suggested me your video, maybe caus of the "fingerstyle" tag, but I don't regret at all, I enjoyed your song, thank you

  • merci beaucop, manu.

i love youtube. how else can someone in france hear some local gittar teacher in california? thanks for listening and tuning in.

  • Sidethehead. Very Nicely done. You say your a teacher of guitar. My teacher of guitar in the late 60's early 70's kept pounding music theory into me. All I wanted to do was play. Some weeks I hated him, but here I am, still strumming a few decades later, and glad he did.

FYI, My favorite guitarist is Mottola.

  • Thanks c50. I loved Tony. My dad bought his albums, and I have a cousin in Florida who plays a lot like him. He was a great jazz player early on before he went pop. Hard to find those.... Played all Sinatra's tours. Good teacher! A little theory and technique goes a long way.

  • Thanks for sharing this - great work. I'd love to have the tabs to this but appreciate it's quite time consuming. I've been trying to learn it by ear but still got a long way to go! :)

  • Great work - thanks for sharing!

  • thanks, i enjoyed that.

  • i love the way you play keep them coming

  • great!!!

  • Couldn't have said it better, c50. The toughest students for me are adults who did it their way for 30 years, then come to lessons wanting to get better.......At least a year of breaking bad habits.
