We later met a guy that had worked w/ a Guatemalan that used to be a hunting guide. When i told him what it sounded like he said, "That is what the guide says they sound like!"
i wish to God i would have had a camera w/a flash and/or had the guts to use my flash light; but i was scared motionless. And not afraid to admit it.
i was there w/ friends in September of 2002(?). While laying alone on the dock just fifty yards down from our bungalow directly across from the middle of the volcanoes, i heard what i can only imagine was a jaguar w/in fifteen yards of me.
My friend that was there for two years in the Peace Corps said it could not have been a jaguar. But i know what i heard and it was no dog nor howler monkey.
Please explain what are you talking about ??
Anyway there are no jaguars in this region.

It was the scariest moment of my life.

I live here, and it's one of my most favorite places, too! Thanks for posting...
