The Tomos Streetmate
http://www.LanceCampeau.com It's 50cc's of chrome plated, low cost coolness. Take a detailed look at the Tomos Streetmate's ups and downs... Mine gets roughly 85 MPG and it costs about one gallon to fill her up. Here it is shown with some add on items...

-Formotion analog clock
-Digital cycling computer/speedometer
-Rear mount storage box (heeters.com)
-aftermarket muffler (Tecno Bullet).

The digital speedo reads in km/h.

Now, before the YouTube "peanut gallery" posts their usual stupidity please note...

-I already know my sunglasses are ugly.
-I also know if I lost a few pounds my shocks would function better.

  • I live in Aylmer/Gatineau Quebec, and I was wondering if you knew of dealers that would be nearest to me. I would hate to have to drive out for two hours to get to Montreal for a tomos dealer, also how much are these within our province? Is it 2600$ as you mentioned to the 16 year old in Ontario? Or is the pricing different over here?

  • @FANADICALCOWHEAD

Check out Derand moto in Ottawa.... pricing is about 2600 CAD

Thanks! I called them today but they only had the Streetmate R, and they told me that Tomos no longer made the standard Streetmate.. Which is a bit disappointing considering the fact that I love the look of the Sreetmate. It reminds me of the 1973 Kawasaki 750 my dad used to have. Anyway, I would still settle for a Streetmate R, do you know anything about them? I mean are they better than the standard Streetmates?

  • @FANADICALCOWHEAD

Small cosmetic differences (rear shocks, handlebars, rims, decals, headlights etc...) The stuff that counts (engine, chassis, electrical) is the pretty much the same. The projector headlamps are garbage... switch it out for a proper headlight.

  • @LanceCampeau

Would you recommend a streetmate r? I'm 17 and I'm pretty thin, 140lbs to be precise, so I don't think I'd encounter any rear shock problems. I'm not sure how reliable these things are, but I'm a very cautious owner (Unlike most kids my age) and I'm certified small engines mechanic (I did a 90 hour course on small engines) but I wouldn't want something with reliability issues..

  • @FANADICALCOWHEAD

At 140lbs... I'd get the LX instead og the Streetmate, I had both... I liked my kitted LX a lot (up untill it got stolen). The LX is much less expensive and has the same engine and front shocks... The LX frame is made from stamped steel which is not as robust as the Streetmate's tubular steel frame... but its still very solid. I have not done any major engine work in 3 years.... the only real problem I had was covered by the warrenty (hall effect sensor).
