Re. Plvsbpb's comments. I do believe he is quite right. She plays very well indeed, but can you imagine Johann playing this delicately? ...Nien. On many of Gould's recordings, I personally believe he became a bit obsessed with speed, but the passion of Bach is missing from Hewitt's playing.

Of course it's pretty good, but with Hewitt I always feel that the burning passion needed for really effective performances is missing. No matter what you might say about him, Glenn Gould has that, and that's why his performances are not (only) scholarly, but powerful. But no offense meant to Hewitt. She has her own ideas, and we should all respect that!
