Shot in South Dakota in early February with most nights sub zero with -25 wind chill. Used Dynamic Perception Stage Zero dolly and Milapse mount on most of the shots.

Also on Vimeo at http://vimeo.com/20062206

The Stage Zero Dolly worked great in the sub zero temps.

  • soo 1 picture every second? and how many frames was it played back as?

  • @charliebaetj 24fps, the exposures are 20 seconds or so, so it's not 1 photo every second. More like every 20+ seconds is one photo.

  • Shutter varied from 20-30 seconds depending on moon, ISO 1600 and intervalometer was set to 1 sec. between shots.

  • What was the average aperture used? Also, how was the focus set?

  • @jameswalt1 Always F 2.8, focus was manual on infinity.

  • @dakotalapse What do you mean "manual on infinity"?

  • @jameswalt1 It was set to manual focus rather than auto, I turned the focus ring to the infinity mark.

  • mind if I ask what editing software are you using?

  • This makes me want to leave Florida. There's so much open space without people and light pollution is minimal.

  • @dakotalapse oooh i got ya, yeah i tried to do something very similar but when i put them on my computer and did the image sequence it always freezes my computer. Do you know if theres a disk that came with the t2i that i could install to help get better timelapses?

  • Nice work Randy! I love your photography. Did you use any filters? what do you use for power supply? and could you recommend a intervalometer? I have a canon 50D

    thanks

    Sean

  • I think ,You use rails to moving camera. don't you??

  • @supra1981

I would guess that the shot where you see the rig come out of the house didn't work and the one you see before was another shot. Where the lights were out or very dim inside the house.

But if not then I too is curious how he did it :)

    Very well done. Nice montage

  • Very beautiful. Winter can be very beautiful and peaceful.

    Thank you.
