The Two Wheels 2 Anywhere team test ride and demo the BRP Can-am Spyder Roadster at Americade (June 2009) in Lake George NY. We talk to BRP district sales manager Scott Walker about the Roadster and take a group ride to Lake Placid. In this segment, Pete and Rich get to test out the Spyder at the BRP demo headquarters at Roaring Brook Ranch in Lake George. The segment provides an introduction about the development of the spyder and talks about the differences and handling characteristics when riding a 3 wheeled vehical as apposed to a regular motorcycle.

Later, we meet Spyder owners from all over the Northeast who have gathered here in Lake George to take part in their first inaugural group ride.

The Spyder was ten years in development. In 1996, BRP's design and engineering department was given the task of developing BRP's first on road vehicle. They had the snow segment covered with Ski-Doo snowmobiles and the water craft with their Sea-Doo personal watercraft, along with Can-Am ATV' s in the off road markets, so this venture was a first.

  • Wife and I and 2 other couples planned a 28-day June 11 tour of the western states. Our Spyder RT/S made it all the way to AZ before the electrics and transmission went out. Oh, its not so bad - at 22 mpg with accessory trailer, we'd have never made it across Utah anyway. Local dealer couldnt fix it, and the rest of our group had to leave us there. Vacation over on Day 4. Oh, and CanAm wont reimburse the Uhaul bill and gas to get it home. Good Luck. Total mileage at time of failure 3,400.

  • i wonder what the replacement belts cost for the drive system, probably half of the bike itself,
