  • i actually prefer not to till in the cover crops (at least on a regular basis). i find that it puts too much nitrogen in the soil at one time, and end up losing other nutrients as a result. it's too much for the microbes in the soil to handle in one shot. laying the cover crop on top of the soil to decay slowly is better for my purposes. it also forms a mulch this way. also, i wouldn't use any chemicals around the farm so Roundup isn't an option. for that tree, i'd just pull it or dig it out.
