@nephildevil Now, I do not know what the Russians technology of the time and one does wonder would they have been able, say, to build a series of atomic/nuclear wpns and smuggle them into the US and denote them? That I do not know and would have increased the chances of the US discovering such an ops. Howerver they did NOT have the technology to deliever any nuclear payload on the '48' States with aircraft or missle at the time...
@nephildevil Alaska was an American Territory [like Guam, Hawaii) and not a state of the US. According to what was stated by the Head of Soviet Strag Rocket Forces, the 'Contintental United States' in the series 'War & Peace In the Nuclear Age' the Soviets did NOT have the ability to strike the US with any kind of atomic/nuclear wpns; neither missile nor aircraft---Europe could be but not the 48 States of the United States at that time...this includes most of the 1950s...
Accoring to a PPS series of the late 1980s the Head of the Soviet Rocket Forces stated that in the 1950s' the Russians did not have the ability to strike the US with any kind of atomic/nuclear wpns---Parts of Europe could be but not the US.
I managed to get hold of 'Waking Point' on an old VHS tape called 'Protect And Survive' - which also has the old UKWMO information films and the 1971 classic 'Sound An Alarm'. Incredible to think that just 6 years after the end of WW2 these films were being put out in the face of WW3!
