Beau was nominated for the Callahan award in 2005 by Mamabird as only a sophmore, after Josh "Richter" Ackley won the award the year before. Beau's throws were still hilarious at this point, and he traveled on nearly every throw. Mamabird also still felt invincible, and were clearly messing around during the Regional finals against UCSD when they called for Beau to huck the disc on the first point. Everyone had a good laugh at that one, especially when it was completed. UCSD nearly got revenge though in the semis of Nationals when they had the game in hand and choked it away at the end. Mamabird's loss to Brown in the finals is easily one of the biggest upsets of all time.
