Plaza Gandhi, Caricuao, Caracas: Meshika in Venezuela

GLIMPSES OF VENEZUELA: Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti (Birthday of Mahatma Gandhi) and International Day of Non-Violence was celebrated in Venezuela on Sunday, 2 October, 2011. In the morning, floral tributes were paid to Gandhiji at his bust located at Plaza Gandhi at Caricuao neighbourhood of Caracas by the members of Indian Embassy, Indian community in Venezuela and Venezuelans. In the afternoon event at the world headquarters of Gran Fraternidad Universal, a discussion on the life and teachings of Gandhiji was held. A photographs Exhibition on the life of Gandhiji was also held at Gran Fraternidad Universal from 30 September - 2 October, 2011. Mr. C.B. Thapliyal, Charge d' Affaires of the Embassy of India addressed the gathering at both the places highlighting relevance of the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi. Mr. Otilio Gimenez, who has been taking care of the Gandhi Statue and the Plaza Gandhi at Caricuao for many years, was also present and addressed the gathering highlighting the teachings of Gandhiji.
