Sadly, music won't improve one's grammar and punctuation.

Of all the gazillion of pianists that play this piece, I think maestro Brendel is the only one who gets it. There is always a temptation to fall into feminine tranquility with it, and I think it's wrong. It's not what Schubert had in mind. This Impromptu is filled with conflict, suppressed anger and anxiety,it's full of sforzandos, subito pianissimos and fortissimos which in our language would mean "mood swings" or anxiety. :-). Brendel is very at home with German repertoire. Great master.

Listening to this interpretation of this beautiful impromptu is pure bliss. Brendel: musicality and maturity.

Nor will it turn a douche-bag into a self realized human being whom stops shitting on other people to look cool on the internet.

I heard Alfred Brendel many times, including his farewell performance in London. I love this piece; it has been a piece I have played over and over again when I am sad and need strength. I agree that it is full of different moods and for me, ultimately, it is uplifting. Brendel plays without too much sentimentality .. love his playing.

Alfred Brendel at its best ... simply great.

Manfred Mann´s Earth Band released a song called "Questions" in 1976 based on the main theme of Schubert´s Impromptu No. 3 - /watch?v=eH-XbRFQpLE
