This was large hail I captured in and near Waxhaw, NC. The only reason I complain at the beginning was I was trying to get to the south before the core arrived but was unable to do so due to traffic. I also was worried about losing windows etc. as this storm had a history of baseball sized hail. Thankfully the heart of the core passed just to my south where that may have occurred.
This was hastily edited together to show some of the action.

  • Upon additional analysis I estimate the largest stone I found (the one with the quarter on top) to be about 2.25 inches when I found it in diameter. Being it had 20 or so minutes to melt before that I am guessing it was at least tennis ball sized when it fell (2.5 inches).

  • That was a severe hail-storm you had there!

  • @sandrateager It was for sure!

  • @eyewall41 that's really close to what I found it was 4 x 3 x 2 around 18 cubic inches. Bigger than a Rubik's cube.

  • @iMOSKUL i def believe you i found some too i took a video!

  • I live south of Charlotte I was able to run out right after the storm and get some of the larger stones in the front yard which i took in a video on my channel. 4 inches by 3 by 2 gave it around 18 cubic inches. The largest was about 1 and a half times the volume of a baseball. Most were golfballs. That was the largest hail I've ever seen.
