New research led by Dr. Larry Corey helps explain why infection with herpes simplex virus-2 (HSV-2), which causes genital herpes, increases the risk for HIV infection even after successful treatment heals the genital skin sores and breaks that often result from HSV-2. This research illustrates the need to develop a vaccine for genital herpes as well as HIV.
If someone has HSV-1 (Cold Sorres) would getting an HSV-2 Vaccine be pointless?

Its a very interesting research, Dendritic cells function is to process antigen material from other cells of the immune system, and in fact a high concentration of them may increase the risk of HIV because it may attach to some receptors available on the cell. If interested in Herpes (treatment, diagnosis) visit Symposier Site, some interesting videos (for Physicians and Health experts) are available.
