@DescentFromHeaven he is under stress because he composes music that relates to his own personal experiences. he has actually admitted it in an interview. i dont mean to seem nasty or anything of the sort, but i think he deserves respect for his music, and also his music is very therapeutic. it has helped me alot.

@acewales1 why is he under so much mental stress on stage?

@steve0557 or we 're just too mediocre to accept the reality.

@line6bb satriani taught hammet to play guitar, just incase you didn't know. @rhoadsrulesfan if you actually knew about joe satriani then you would know that he is under a lot of mental stress when he play certain songs on stage, and that is playing with real emotion.

Great quote from Geddy Lee 'its about feel. Its great to know all those notes and chords, but ultimately what it comes down to is feel.' A great musician is one who can communicate a feeling. Having technical proficiency helps, but isnt everything. Hendrix couldnt shred, and was a loose player, but he could hit one note that could resonate with the universal consiousness. David Gilmour is another perfect example. Mastery and feel, go listen to violinist Antonio Vivaldi, or my fav J.S Bach
The interview starts at 1:26

I've been playing for 42 years. I never had the discipline to sit and do scales. I've been told by artists and listeners alike that I play well. Yet I can't run more than 6 notes at a time. And I have yet to commit the entire fretboard to memory. Technical? God forbid. I've know shredders. I've known guys who can do a cover after one listen. Give me a heartfelt rendition of a 3 chord original every time. Music's an entirely spiritual experience. Take it from an old hand.
