Very cool, Thanks for posting. It is about time, I would love to see more municipalities use gyros for observation. They will do 90 percent of what a helicopter can do at 10 percent of the cost.

Any aviation assett that costs as much as, or less than, a fully equipped, high performance, squad car or SUV is an absulute bargain. We can only hope that they aren't rushing into things without the full benefit of the training that is required to operate in the national airspace system. Hoo-Rah Chief Hauck! Now let's see some UAV's start making it more into the headlines, that's where the real savings and versatility come into play.

Hope more law enforcement go with Gyro's its the best tool for the job and force multiplier at a fraction of the cost.
Why should anybody want their local law enforcement to spend: $4 million for a heli, with an average flight to maintenance ratio 1 to 9 @ $60 per Hr, plus 40~50gph of fuel @ $3~$4 a gal versus 4gph of unleaded and a week of flying to 4~5hr Maint.

This is ridiculous, especially for Tomball. It's nice to see they have surplus of money to waste from all the traffic tickets and illegal searches they conduct.

what a waste of money!
the only reason Tomball police is the only department in the country to have it is because their the only ones dumb enough to buy one!! then the fuel cost to have that P.O.S. in the air I'm sure thats not cheap either!!

I just seen it hovering rite above my house
Maybe you should do your home work before shooting off your mouth, everything you said is wrong, there is no other aircraft as economical as a gyro for the purpose that they plan to use it for. Idiot!
