Is it just me, but I thought it was commenting on the relationship between the USA (the Oaks) and Canada (the Maples). Am I missing something?

I personally like the allegory of trees; the oaks (the corporate structure, the rich) are arrogantly confident that they are entitled to all the sun (cash, power, material things) they can grab, cost in suffering and other lives be damned, while the maples (the majority, you, me - us) live wither and die by the vagaries of placement and the whim of the "oaks" so eventually - class war. It's a political song. Of course there's more to it but I'm out of room.
