I have never gone up the DC route. The Emmons is fairly straight forward...not a lot of difficulty, plus it shoots you right to the Columbia Crest. The Emmons climb is less crowded so you get more of a true mountaineering experience. I think it is slightly harder, a day longer and therefore the packs are heavier.
