so how long did the whole project take, how much did it cost and how would you rate it against a gibson explorer?

shit...make it out of ply-wood...who cares...its practice...and practice makes perfect..i just glued up 4 bodies out of poplar....heargear...can you give me some tips on how to get the pic ups centered..measurements or any thing....

@richluvsellie; I suggest u make a template and glue two piece of wood and use the glue-line as the center of the whole guitar.. and so even the pickups.

@dcp10200; Well, the type of wood is very important, different type of wood have different type of sustain and durability..so for the last 65 years we have been exploring and still are with type of wood is good for building electric guitars, what we know for sure is that great wood are; Mahogony, Basswod, Ash, Maple, and some more and all those have different characteristics...so YES what type of wood is very importand depending on what type of guitar u are building.

@dcp10200 Well, in that case he was wrong. Go ask around, people will all give you the same awnser, that wood does make a difference. I know this for sure, and if you don't want to believe me, thats your problem.

@JustSomeRandomNewb mhm well ive played guitars made of may types of wood and the only way that ive noticed a difference is when playing acoustic guitars and by the way the person who told me was a luthier.

@dcp10200 My freind, whoever told you that was a complete moron. The type of wood is the basis for your tone. Lighter woods, like ash, tend to give a more light sound, where darker woods like basswood and mahogany give you a warmer tone. There is a reason luthiers spend incredible amounts of money on specific woods, as they give you the basic tone.
