http://www.letsrun.com Bekele easily dispatched Zersenay Tadese on the final lap to win in . He said of the last lap, "I (was) not worried. I know him. (I was) relaxing. I (was) not really kicking you know." On the 5k, "It is a little harder. I will try my best."

  • mrembo87 you dumb fuck hes ethiopian not american, its actually amazing that he took time out of his busy schedule from shitting on everyone in the long distance races to learn a little bit of it so when someone interviews him for being so fucking incredible he can explain why hes so fucking incredible. this may come as a shock to u but not everyone in the world speaks english. also, ur comment is hardly readable you should brush up on your own english and typing skills, fucker.

  • mrembo87... why don't you try learning amharic?

  • @knightsxc06 I wouldn't doubt that he could. That wasn't his style though. Most of his races, he would sit behind the leader, almost tripping up on them because he wanted to go faster, until the last 150m. When he did lead, no one really pushed him to a 53. It's a lot easier to run a 53 in a 27:20 10k vs 26:40 10k. I can't think of a race where he started to kick at 450m to go like bekele and others seem to do today. He ran a 3:31 1500m which i think is 55 sec laps, so the reserve was there

  • To the ignorant: English is the most wide spoken foreign language in Ethiopia. There are a great incentives for Ethiopians to learn English. There is no reason for Americans to learn Amharic.

  • @xxxDAPROBLEMxxx : I love Haile to pieces and he is my favorite runner/human being, but really think Haile was a 55 second last lap guy. Would you cite me an example of Haile going sub 54 on a 10k? Yifter and Bekele are the 53 second guys, and I am absolutely in awe of Yifter's ability, because HIS 53 second lap would only start with 300 meters to go.... that and the fact that he was 35-40 years old! =)

  • best interview ever.

  • @knightsxc06 uhhh yeah he did

  • Not as endearing a media darling as Haile, but Haile never had anything like 53 second last lap speed. =)

  • By the by, Ethiopia's official language: Amharic. No reason he should speak proper English. Go be a classic ignorant American elsewhere. And 'emaades,' sorry to exploit your cunning comeback, but it's all too evident you've discovered Google translator.

Room of idiots. A giant room of idiots.

  • As an unfortunate third revision, to flame123652, he should have "spoken" Habesha language to him. I find it pathetically ironic that we have a thread of people complaining about Bekele's English, while you bimbos can't speak it yourselves. Grow the hell up. As for 'mrembo87,' I'm inclined to rebut your wonderfully ethical position, but you're either just purposefully being an idiot to see how many hostile replies you can get, or you're literally too stupid to address.
