  • Every shirt I owned as a kid had been cut off and #42 written in magic marker. In my mind, he was the most underated running back at Bama. He must have changed jersey's at least three times a game. They would be ripped to shreds.

  • Major Applewhite is named in honor of him too

  • I was at that game. I think MBHS scored 40 or 50 points. I talked to the Coffee coach many years later when he was at Troup County, Jim Holley I believe was his name, and he said that Mountain Brook team was the best team he had ever seen. Please somebody, post some MBHS video of Major. BTW the other night I learned that another kid was named after Major. The McIntosh County Acadamy (GA) head coach named one of his boys Major. The other two are Buck (Belue) and Knox (Culpepper)

  • I got to see a 17 year old Major Ogilvie run all over my hometown Coffee Yellow Jackets in the 1976 Alabama state playoffs. He was simply amazing.

  • You Should have seen Major run at Mountain Brook High School. I was hoping somebody had posted some of his video from his Spartan Days. He is one of the best high school backs I have ever seen and I have seen alot of them.

  • When I was a kid I wanted to be the next Major

  • I had the benefit of watching him play his senior year in HS as he steamrolled Berry.

  • i met him once when i was young.

he worked for the same company my mom worked for back then.

he was the first BAMA football player i'd ever met and i'll never forget it.

he even signed my football for me.

a helluva runner and a great person.

  • Beautiful moment at the end of this video. One of my favorite players of all times. Thanks again. RTR
