Ohh...why did someone write an orchestra arrangement?
Does anyone know who wrote it?
I personally think that the piece is great as written, UNACCOMPANIED.

Interesting, but I must say I prefer the original solo version.

The original is much, much better. I'm willing to go without hearing Bashmet on it just to avoid hearing this version.

I once had the CD(which seemed out-of-print for quite a while). The orchestration should be arranged by Victor Poltoratsky according to the liner notes. I love this version very much. It shows what the music and harmony meant to be, just as how we should understand Bach's solo suite from a contrapuntal point of view. Although I would perform in the original way, this orchestrated version does serve as a great reference.

That viola sounds absolutely amazing! Don't get me wrong. The song is great but wow! That thing is sweet!!

@Arkhangemon I would guess to say that Reger himself may have orchestrated the piece. However may not have published it. He was a highly active orchestrator of others' works.

@Arkhangemon The orchestration was done by Victor Poltoratsky.

@imeanbean Mozart? I think you're listening to a different composer. This is homage to Bach.

@violistkata It isn't, the orchestration was done by Victor Poltoratsky.

The accompaniment is personally Bashmet's.
I want the accompaniment...it was written for viola solo, so I wonder who orchestrated the orchestra's part?
