We have the technology to know when a sun flare happens, esp. a huge one that could cause damage. Couldnt we just turn off the main electric transisters so they dont get burned out before the flare hits? I believe I read it takes 7 minutes for the suns energy to hit Earth so wouldnt that be enough time to "power down" to let it pass?
