VT-9 T-45C from NAS Meridian takes a bird down the engine shortly after takeoff. Instructor takes controls from the backseat and saves the jet (landing on the runway he just took off on)...while the engine was coming apart. The throttle was full forward, but the engine only gave him 1/3 of normal thrust available when he was trying to make the runway. He held putting down the gear until the last possible minute.
