  • would this be period appropriate for a woman of nobility?

  • I'm not an expert by any means, but I would think that since this is a style meant to be covered with a cap, that it's possible that noblewomen would have done their hair this way, at least for everyday.

  • After seeing this me and my 5 year old wear our hair like this all the time!

  • It's a great way to keep the hair tidy, and if you're not doing something historical, you can go crazy with colored ribbons, etc.

  • Yep, hairpins. Not bobby pins (unless you need those to pin down bangs), which are not strictly period.
