Since Mike's conversion to Christianity in 1966, he has authored four books and has recorded 15 live concert appearances and teaching tapes which include two videos.
Although we could list each of Mike's accomplishments, awards, honors and television appearances, Mike prefers that we focus on the next soul and how we might better illuminate to that person the saving, JOYOUS, sustaining power of our LORD and Savior, Jesus Christ. I enjoy the comments that refer to Matthew 7 as a blanket probition against judgement. In context Mathew 7 also warns you not to cast your pearls before swine, and to beware of false prophets that come to you as wolves in sheeps clothing. Romans 16 tells you to Mark them which cause divisions and offences according to the doctrine which you have learned and avoid them. I believe Cornerstone did a service to the Church by there expose on ths false prophet. I believe the method was Scriptural.

They did confront Warnke privately, attempting to get his side of the story...however, when they presented Warnke w/a poster-sized blowup of a photo taken during the time of his alleged Satanic involvement that showed him not to be a long-haired, emaciated addict, but clean-cut and healthy, Warnke immediately clammed up and gave no explanation, though he later attempted to dismiss it by claiming the angle at which the photo was taken allegedly obscured his long hair.

I did "dig a little"...the documents in question are vague, at best (all Warnke cops to are such trivialities as "past ungodliness", "being a bad husband/father/friend," and "exaggeration in an attempt to entertain) and makes no attempt to disprove Cornerstone's findings, save for Warnke's insistence that his discredited bio was legit. In fact, his "accountability board" consisted solely of Warnke cronies who merely took him @ his word and didn't talk to a single person Cornerstone interviewed.

    Hi Barnabas,

If you consider Mike Warnke an erring believer then you should confront him by the process in Matthew 18. If you consider him a false prophet then you should mark him and avoid him as it says in Romans 16.

I don't know the blow by blow exchange between Cornerstone and Warnke. I Corinthians 6 indicates that "swindelers" ESV are deceiving themselves when they think they will inherit eternal life. If you consider him a false prophet swindling the church it is Scriptual to mark him

15 It is true that some preach Christ out of envy and rivalry, but others out of goodwill. 16 The latter do so out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel. 17 The former preach Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing that they can stir up trouble for me while I am in chains. 18 But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice -Php 1:15--18

He has admitted to exaggerating his stories about satanism and about misusing funds. In detail, as a matter of fact. The documents regarding the issue are available online. Spend a little time googling them and you'll find them. I'm not proclaiming him innocent, but dig a little before assuming someone didn't do those kinds of things.

At the very least, it went around the biblical process. Sold a lot of magazines and put his name in the spotlight for a couple minutes, though. Like I said....best for Mike, probably, but not the way these things should be handled between believers.

A service, maybe. Certainly it is better - for Mike's sake - that the truth came out. Can't agree that their method was scriptural, though. I don't see where there was any intent at restorative grace on Jon Trott's part....something that seems to be a bit of a recurring theme for him and Cornerstone's publications in general. If there was a part where they confronted Mike privately, I missed that. If there was a confrontation with witnesses, I missed that. An expose was not Scriptural. At all.
