I think it's ok if you take care while doing it. I have done a lot of movements in this way without problem. I would say it's not best but for most gent movements hand winding is ok. The bergeon tool is so expensive like hell for hobbyists. Thanks for the video!

This is bad workmanship. Hand-winding mainsprings into barrels damages the spring and will, in time, damage the barrel. Any properly trained watchmaker knows this.......

I'm having trouble appreciating how the mainspring transfers its power to the powertrain, and then how the powertrain transfer the power to the hairspring. Once I can conceptualize that, I will have a fundamental understanding of how a mechanical watch works. Can you help me?
