  • I think it's ok if you take care while doing it. I have done a lot of movements in this way without problem. I would say it's not best but for most gent movements hand winding is ok. The bergeon tool is so expensive like hell for hobbyists. Thanks for the video!

  • This is bad workmanship. Hand-winding mainsprings into barrels damages the spring and will, in time, damage the barrel. Any properly trained watchmaker knows this.......

  • I'm having trouble appreciating how the mainspring transfers its power to the powertrain, and then how the powertrain transfer the power to the hairspring. Once I can conceptualize that, I will have a fundamental understanding of how a mechanical watch works. Can you help me?
