Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne, Graham Nash, Keb' Mo' and Ben Harper joined in this adaptation of the classic Buffalo Springfield song, "For What It's Worth," to help stop a $50 billion loan guarantee package for building new nuclear power plants that was slipped into the 2007 Energy Bill. The Fall 2007 campaign mounted by NukeFree.org and allied environmental non-profit organizations gathered over 120,000 signatures, including those of the activists and artists listed on the scroll above. After a media conference and lobby day featuring Bonnie, Jackson, Graham and several environmental organizations along with public pressure on key Senators, Congress defeated the proposed loan guarantees, handing the safe energy movement a huge victory on the road to a green-powered Earth.

    How safe are Nuclear Facilities?

The Prophetsof Oak Ridge - Last summer, in the dead of night, three peace activists penetrated the exterior of Y-12 in Tennessee, supposedly one of the most secure nuclear-weapons facilities in the United States. A drifter, an 82-year-old nun and a house painter. Google it.

And how about disposing of the radioactive waste? They have no plan..

Besides the risks associated with Earthquakes, Tsunamis, and Fires, have you thought about the possibility of a terrorist attack on any of our nuclear plants? How would a massive EMP (whether from the sun or from a wacky Korean..) affect them? Are they prepared for an EMP that could knock out all power, including backup power? How about cyber computer system hackings? An asteroid, a sinkhole? Yes some of those are a bit far fetched, but not impossible.

--Health risks? There is no safe amount of radiation. Just because people aren't dropping dead instantly doesn't mean they are not suffering short to long term health effects..

Nuclear engineer Arnie Gunderson says that the Japanese will suffer one million cancer deaths from Fukushima, and that we’ll see a statistically meaningful increase in cancer on the West Coast of America and Canada from Fukushima.

Do a little research imrighthere, Bonnie and friends have it so right.

It is safe? When my solar panels leak, I get - sunshine! Not nuclear radiation...

Former US NRC Chairman Gregory Jaczko: "All 104 nuclear power reactors now in operation in the United States have a safety problem that cannot be fixed"

Ouch! The message spilt all over the Muse/music! I was expecting a clean version. - The message /change in lyrics...seemed heavy enough already.

I like, in this case, their commitment more than their use of music, which takes a backseat (& kinda takes in the back side) to polemics / didactic 'wisdom statements'.

You can count on this crew to do the right thing, even if the Muse/music has to suffer... suffer the ears of the children to come unto ...raised consciousness.
