  • Hi Ralfy, I'm wearing my CU Jimmy hat tonight to Thanksgiving dinner! Any thoughts on Blackadder Peat Reek? Thanks, Chris.

  • @ridercanada1

I don't know this one, but it should give you a good peat-reek ! .... if it 'aint great, add a drop of maple syrup !

  • Hi Ralfy:

With equal time of maturation in casks. Why Bourbon is darker in color than Scotch and Single Malt?

  • @ReverendBlackstone

dark colour is absorbed into the spirit from the volume of carbon and charred wood of the American casks.

  • Hello ralfy,

  • As a newcomer to the malt movement I want to put on the record my appreciation for your reviews, Ralfy. Wholly accessible and not a hint of snobbery. Big pat on the back.

This began for me because I married into a wonderful Ayrshire (Mauchline, to be precise) family who presented me with a bottle of Tomintoul with a peaty tang, which is still a favourite dram (ahem REVIEW PLEASE!! ahem) and a Jim Murray's Whisky Bible. A life of learning awaits!

Cheers again Ralfy, keep it up!!

  • What a jolly fun chat.
