Ever wondered what the Aussie summer looked like 60 years ago? Film Archivist Richard Carter has created this mash-up of summer footage from the 1940s to 1970s using only film, music and audio from the Film Australia Collection (now managed by the National Film and Sound Archive). Screen Australia is a major partner of YouTube Map My Summer.

Good old days, eh? Yes, please let's go back do dying of melanoma, car crashes, workplace injuries and second hand smoke. I know we have less freedom, but that's because humans keep breeding and now we have less space, and nowadays we know more so we try to avoid dying by using sunscreen and stuff.
I'm glad we got even more immigrants since then. We have better music, awesome food and a truly cosmopolitan culture I can tease people from other countries for not lacking.

They really were the glory days, glad I got to live though that in my younger years. We will never have that again at the rate we are going. RIP good ol days.
