US leaders hurry to avert 'fiscal cliff'

US President Barack Obama says he is still hopeful Congress can reach agreement to avoid the so-called fiscal cliff.
 
Obama met congressional leaders at the White House to discuss a deal to reduce the national deficit.




They're working on a compromise bill that could be brought to a vote by Monday.

It is a genuine embarassment that these people are not able to work it out properly, real irresponsibility is being shown here. Automated tax raises? How about austerity, making priorities? Give the economy more breathing room by reducing taxes instead!! Especially in these not too easy times. It will eventually earn itself back, more than double!

So he spends more money than all presidents before combined, 5.4 trillion bare minimum, Bush spent 500 billion in 8 years while conquering two hostile countries. People know as the national debt goes up so does the interest rate exponentially, he has practically bankrupted the country in one term as president. He is the one that has caused this, he is the reason there will be austerity, jobs will disappear, food prices will skyrocket, public education will be gutted, college loans decimated.
