This short clip is from the DVD which includes behind the scenes in Charlie Chaplin's film 'The Circus'. Attending the premiere at Manns Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, CA - the scene shows a large woman (or man), dressed in black and a hat, talking into something that only be described as a mobile phone device or possibly a walkie-talkie. Remember this is from 1928.

As anyone can plainly see, it is not a hearing aid. The person is talking into it. You don't talk into a hearing aid. You talk into a phone. Oh, and as for the whole "there were no signal towers" excuse, keep this in mind. Who is to say this person is from our time? Maybe they traveled from ten or even twenty years in our future. Perhaps then cell phones didn't need towers. Maybe they were advanced enough to have signals from phone to phone without the need of towers. Think about it.

@vm62889 The best way to not stand out is to wear period clothing. If you tried walking down 1928 New York with saggin pants, gold chains and a backwards baseball cap, you would definitely stand out.

Maybe it's possible.Maybe the future don't need signals to power their cellphones or even use solar energy as it's charger.Time travel is possible according to Hawking.Humanity must continue to advance.
