Shannon Miller, Dominique Moceanu, Dominique Dawes, Kerri Strug, Amy Chow, Amanda Borden and Jaycie Phelps; or as they became known, the Magnificent Seven.
As the home team, the United States were a definite contender for the Olympic gold medal; however the competition from Romania and Russia was expected to be fierce.
Through Kerri Strug's vault single-footed landing - as she had injured her ankle during her first vault attempt - team USA achieved Olympic glory. It was the perfect dramatic finish for a team that also took its place in fan's hearts and memories.
At the Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games, the Magnificent Seven became the first ever women's gymnastics team to win the Olympic gold medal for the USA.

Actually you are the stupid one. Judges are each from a different country and in reporting scores, the score says the specific country the judge came from. For more fairness the lowest and highest judges scores are disregarded. The American team was the best in the world that year.
Frustrating to be shown an ignorant by an American isn't it? Cheers ;)

I don't forget this gymnast. I remember it was exciting to see her running with the injured ankle. Seventeen years have passed... I'm getting old. =O)
