look at the typed lyrics. Line 29 should say 'where their rivers run" instead of "we let our rivers run" :P

The fire of God upon this band is AMAZINGLY POWERFUL <3 SW <3

That is what makes Switchfoot the perfect band. You can relate their songs to however you feel. You can certainly take this song and most of their music and mold it into a relationship with the Lord but you can also look into it differently. I think its Switchfoot's way of appealing to soo many people.

@brayingmonKEY Why? Because there's pretty good chances that it's about the speaker's search for God, if you analysed the lyrics and put it in context of who Switchfoot are and where they came from. It's very consistent in the imagery throughout the song, and it's not forced at all if the "you" here refers to God. However as much as others have interpreted it as a song about God, Switchfoot deliberately couch their music so everybody can find meaning in it, personal works too.

I don't know why people attach the song with Jesus or God.
I think the song is more about the soul, i can relate more this song on a personal level than through god.

"Lookin' for the well that won't run dry" how perfectly that describes us as humans. Always seeking to fill that void. But we can find it in Jesus! Oh the anticipation surrounding the return of Jesus! Thank you God for giving Switchfoot this song and thank you Switchfoot for executing this calling God has given you! It is truly a blessing.

those 15 people that dislike this must be justin bieber and ke$ha...
Bet people didn't know this song was about a restless soul waiting for Jesus to come back. ;)

Man, We NEVER get what we want or need fully here in our limited lives. BUT we can know God and begin a life that carries on forever. When you have had difficult things happen in your life, which most of us do at some point, there is no other philosophy that makes sense of 'eternity written in our hearts', of being 'born to frustration' of 'creation longing for the children of God to be revealed'. My wife died of cancer and I was left with 2 young kids. Only Jesus takes the pain away.
