A short film by Archaeologist & Historian James Balme featuring the Roman Gardens and Amphitheatre in Chester (DEVA).
James has found important evidence and artefacts left behind by the Romans in Cheshire during his many years of research and he is proud that he was himself born in the Heart of Chester (DEVA) back in 1964.
James said ' It is quite possible that i could be a descendant from many generations stretching right back as far as the settlement and Fortress of Roman Chester. The possibilities are endless and it would be extremely interesting to trace my origins using the most up to date DNA technology'.

'History is part and parcel of the make up of the Northwest of England and the possibilities are endless. To research my origins would be an interesting project and one that i may pursue in future years'.
