Leonid Sobinov and Antonina Nezhdanova: "Par cet entroit sentier," From The Pearl Fishers 1910

Two of Russia's greatest singers from the early 20th century in this less frequently recorded duet form Bizet's Pearl Fishers. In a country of many great singers, Leonid Sobinov was among the most respected and popular. He was the young Sergei Lemeshev's hero, whom Lemeshev consciously emulated when a student at the Moscow Conservatory. Antonina Nezhdanva was perhaps Russian's greatest soprano and a passionate patriot; named People's Artist of the Soviet Union and Hero of Labor. She dedicated herself to a life of service through her art, and is greatly beloved to this day.
