Dylan. First he writes these masterful songs against imperialism. Then, during a key moment in the 60’s, he wrecks a motorcycle and is laid up for a year. He doesn’t really come back as a lyricist until the mid-70’s (the verse from American Pie, “moss grows fat on a rolling stone”--that’s Dylan). Then, Chabad-Lubavitch gets hold of him and he converts back to Judaism, turns a blind eye to Israeli crimes henceforth. To me, his songs are only worthwhile when others do them (like in this vid).
