  • It's good to know that I'm not alone. I could sleep 12-14 hours a day and when I wake up I feel so horrible and guilty like I'm wasting my life away. I seriously need to make a change and need to come up with a way to fight the urge to continue sleeping. I'd like to be happy with just 8 hours of sleep. Any advice?

    For 21 days make yourself get up after only 6 hours.

    When you wake up jump out of bed right away before you can make any excuses.

    If you do it for 21 days it will be easier after that to get up.

    It will also help to write down all the reasons that you want to keep sleeping and all the thoughts and feelings you have about sleeping. For example - I like sleeping because I can avoid work.

    Then forgive yourself for each point: I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to want to sleep in to avoid work.

    This will assist in letting go of the pattern.

    Then you can write statements like: when I open my eyes in the morning I get out of bed immediately. Say these statements out loud everyday until you are doing them consistently.

    This assists in actually correcting the pattern.
