does the type of tire make a difference like is a smooth tire better than a knobby tire for gripping a metal spindle?
solysol5 2 years ago
yeah, if its a grippy tire, it usually gets chewed up rather quick, the best tire to use, is the schwinn reproduction "slik" tire. its a slick pretty much, but it costs about 40$ usually, but pretty much any tire will work. hope i helped!

cool bro- i made one a year ago, about to build one now. i made my spindle just like yours, on a lathe- it was about 3 times bigger diameter, turning a 26'' mtb tire- i hit about 26 on flatground, with a tail wind.

rele? thats pretty cool. and a metal lathe?? LUCKY!!! lol ya, i use a smaller spindle so it climbs hills better. (live in a hilly area) haha well, rock on dude, and good luck to your newest project!
