@Riga38 i am aware of the SSB of its uses especially when it comes to keeping an impinged shoulder somewhat dormant, and thank you for clarifying. The manta ray does have its place, it was at points used by WWBB, to help place more stress on the quads. My concern is that the SSB forces you to activate the upper back to stay upright and keep from rolling over, but in the video you push the bar up with your hands, which confused me slightly that is all. Either way a solid lift

good lift, my concern is what is the point of the SSB if you are using your arms to force the bar back? it is supposed to keep you upright and that purpose is defeated if u are lifting the the handles w/ your arms. you could accomplish the same effect with a manta ray or something could you not?

The upper body is always used in the squat. The squat is one of , if not the most complicated lifts to execute. Your concern is misguided. I'm using the SSB to reduce stress on my shoulders. By having my hands to the front I'm able to execute good form and keep my shoulders (which at the time were injured) healthy. Using a manta (not) has little to no advantages. It was designed for a lifter to have less pain when hi-bar squatting. There is no effect going on...just some good hi-rep squatting.
