A beautifully romantic song, "Play Me" by Neil Diamond, circa 1972., from his "Moods" album. I edited the video a bit and I hope you enjoy it! The words are really meaningful, too.

Lyrics:
She was morning
And I was night time
One day woke up
To find her lying
Beside my bed
I softly said
"Come take me"
For I've been lonely
In need of someone
As though I'd done
Someone wrong somewhere
I don't know where
Come lately

You are the sun
I am the moon
You are the words
I am the tune
Play me

Song she sang to me
Song she brang to me
Words that rang in me
Rhyme that sprang from me
Warmed the night
And what was right
Became me

You are the sun
I am the moon
You are the words
I am the tune
Play me

And so it was
That I came to travel
Upon a road
That was thorned and narrow
Another place
Another grace
Would save me

You are the sun
I am the moon
You are the word
I am the tune
Play me

  • totally beautiful! thank you xx

  • I just finished listening to Josh Groban's version. I love them both. No doubt, Neil is legend. I wish I was his guitar.lol

  • This is 1976; Love at the Greek concert

  • This song is brilliant simplicity with the simple arpeggios fingerpicked against a sort of calypso rhythm or some kind of shuffle. One of my all time favorites. BTW the C and F chords on the sheet music are not what he is playing. He is playing in the key of D. D, Dsus, G, A, and a walkup. Just goes to show its hard to buy good tabs even if the book says "official" not for note version.

  • Dedicated to you Dear Dinie Van den Bergh.....Thank to person who made this video.

  • My mom used to play Neil often while I was growing up. I have a new appreciation! Such a beautiful "earthy" bedroom voice...ummmmm...leaves me breathless "weak in the knees"!!! Simply glorious!!!!!
