Hands down, the Monkees' masterpiece. Just as Gothic, haunting, and beautiful as ever. And the movie Head rocks too!

@RabidRhonda I saw the monkees in detroit last night and they did this song-it was amazing...they played nearly 40 songs!

this is so coll!! loved it, great!!

Please Raymond T, if you ever get a chance, one of my favorite Monkees songs is Goin` Down, a solo vocal by Mickey Dolens, really hot hard rockin` jazz recording. It was the flip of Daydream Believer. It would be cool if you did a video of that one.

I have this on 45 also. Sadly, by the time this came out, The Monkees were shells of themselves. Head didn't do that well at the box office and the series had been canceled. I'm glad MTV brought them back in 1986.

I thought Trouble wrote this...I'm stupid though. haha
I got kinda used to their version, but this one is more haunting.

That is one rare and pricey 45 RPM record you have playing there - not to mention superb Monkees track that is in a longer, complete version vs. what is on the 'Head' soundtrack album. Big thumbs up to you!

yayyyyyyyy

I used to hit all of the record conventions back in the late '80s, and Monkees rarities was one of my main addictions... and you have the ORIGINAL 45, *WITH* THE ORIGINAL SLEEVE, in mint condition!!!! I may have to hate you.
But, y'know what's weird is, there's a song on "Permanent Vacation" where Perry & Tyler used baleen whales & sperm whales as b.g. fx and, I swear, they ripped it off of this song!
-
@stewtube1 you're right!! ;) they are similar!

this is totally a song of the time back in 68 and what really baffles my mind even more is that classic rock stations never ever give this track or any other tracks off head a spin instead they keep feeding guns n roses into our already rosed filled mouths ( im not hating on gnr but come on how many times can you listen to welcome to the jungle a day i hear that now more than i did in 87) head had the most eclectic monkee rockers ever recorded
I can't believe yt has let this stay up...good for you...God how I love this song...
