The amazing Szewinkska's crown was about to pass to the equally amazing rising star Koch, but not on this day! In a great race the Pole dug in and showed why she is still held in such high esteem.

  • Oh! gdzie te piekne czasy polskiej lekkoatletyki.

  • Thats an amazing run... by both Szewinkska & Koch. Great!!

  • Steroid, steroids, steroid? I see amazing, impressive and sexy female athetes only!

  • @HotChixAndMusic You have got a wraped preception.. she is not considered the greatest because of her prolonged Steriod use... and you seem to have forgotten the women who defeated her in this race, who is considered by many the greatest of all-time.

  • Marita was BORN with raw speed AND endurance. You never saw Lewis runnnig 400 for example, or M Johnson 100m, because a sprinter has either raw speed OR endurance. Marita is unique in that she not only had both, she also set WR's from 60-400m. If she had been black or American, she would be lauded as the greatest athlete of all time, but as white and German she is not.

People who complain about the likes of Koch, are simply jealous that she wasn't running for their country instead.

  • @dehart5 Szewinska and steroids? hahahaha

  • Steriods helped these ladies race well. There is no doubt these ladies could not have performed nearly as well if they hadn't taken steriods. They started using them during the 70;s and on into the 80's until testing became a reality. It is a shame because the training methods such as speed work and weight training has improved (I was a weightlifter) yet the women's times now in the 400M don't come close to the times in the 80's.

  • 2 of the greatest sprinters ever!

  • thx for this video!!
