This is my own version of a character I seen on the web. In this series we start on a Low Poly stylized character. The star fighter is coming slower than expected so Im posting this in the mean time. Original Model by Kurt Boutlier

  • Thanks for this tutorial. Although I use blender, it is helping a lot with my problems with cartoonish styles. Just as a question, do you purposefully draw out things with grid-like patterns to kinda get a feel of where mesh topology is or no?

  • @xXMyChemFreakXx i try to yes.

  • Do you use a lot of polygons to create a simple shoe, uh? Do you really understand what means "Low Poly Character"?

  • @reredias do you understand what HIGH poly means? I guess you dont.

  • you completely passed the part on loading in the reference images....

  • @d3tach3d im sorry, i assumed people would know.

  • @AppleSoldier You should always start with a 6 face, 12 triangle box for low poly character modeling. you have three times that much, for a shoe. Which is far too many for a low poly character; a real good low poly character can be done with less than 300 triangles.

  • Come on! It's an intermediate tutorial! If you don't know how to put reference images, search a tutorial explaining it!

Thanks for the video! It helps me a lot!

PD: I'm sorry about my poor English!

  • @jakemorris0173 Just drag your picture into modo in the (model quad) (front view) and left or right is the (side view) of what ever picture you are trying to model hope that helped.

  • This is good from someone with experience, but for someone new like me, all I hear is "Bring this down, and this over a bit. Touch that there with this, cut this and paste that". It's nice, but all those little shortcuts and tools you use are the things we need to know.

  • @reredias high poly like pixar's charaters, models from playstation 3 games

  • i dont think that watching you modeling a character is that boring, please post more!

  • @reredias That is low poly lol

  • appalachia ftw
