Napolean was kicked from Russia before arriving of Russian Winter. Teach history, guy!

Napoleons main mistake was his army was simply too large to forage from the countryside.
His cavalry horses were practically wiped out never to recover.
Foraging worked in Europe where theres a village every few miles but Russia has vast empty spaces between villages and no crops or food etc so its a whole different ball game.
Hitler also misunderstood the sheer space of Russia and the supply lines were severely overstretched.
Youd have to be a bit of a nut to invade Russia but they were.

Greatest strategic mind to ever have entered a battlefield. Russia would have been along side western Europe had they behaved like civilised conquered people. Napoleon truly wanted and could had make Europe a unified and invincible continent for a millennia.

Its more like extremely un-warlike behavior. Running instead of fighting and when the enemy is getting tired of all this stab him in the back.

France and Napoleon put Russia on its feet in numerous battles.
Its not Russians that beat Napoleon, its the French themselves and the Russian Winter.

Htler started russian invasion exactly the same day Napoleon did

vive l empereur et la grande armée!!!!

Okay, but still under Napoleons rule Russia would have benefited . after Borodino Napoleon had a great deal of respect for the Russians. and i think he would have probably fell in love with the country and the people.
The French officers in Napoleon's Army were extremely competent and good officers. Napoleon's mistake, like Hitler's, was invading Russia. Napoleon did not have a large enough army, nor the supplies needed to keep his army fighting, to conquer Russia. It was a foolish expedition and, as he was warned by a number of his generals not to invade Russia, he should have know better.

Oh but they did fight and the biggest fight was before Moscow. A battle that Napoleon never forgot because the Russians fought his army to a standstill despite in the end forced to retreat by Kutuzov and recover thier loses before Napoleon started retreating from Russsia
Hence this quote: "Of the fifty battles I have fought, the most terrible was that before Moscow. The French showed themselves to be worthy victors, and the Russians can rightly call themselves invincible" - Napoleon
