  • don't get me wrong, i like music like this, but the scene is so overloaded with songs thate are purely woven around something mystical. i get the feeling i'm hearing the same words over and over again, mostly words like "power" "fire" "flames" and stuff like that.. ^^

guess that's why ppl liked iron maiden that much, they had themes about real stuff, like things that happened in history, etc.

i think many listeneres would enjoy pure instrumental metal bands too..

  • @xxxblackvenomxxx Then again, there are huge bands like Judas Priest whose lyrics never broke any new ground, nor could be they seen as innovative by any means..yet they have become what they have become. In other lyrics-driven genres like punk things may be different but speaking about heavy metal,spirit-soul and inspiration behind the music itself come first.

  • @pumpkingr Although to be fair Nostradamus breaks alot of ground in terms of lyrical prowess, however it took them years to release that album xD and even then "Electric Eye" was about CCTV cameras spying on you :P

  • @onett128 They obviously do have songs whose content is more ''sophisticated'' ,I would add the mighty ''Dreamer Deceiver'' to the ones you already mentioned(although even in most of those ones, they would keep it simple, not much analysis on the subjects). But if someone asks me ''what Judas Priest is all about?'',I would simply answer ''Rock Hard,Ride Free'' ;p

  • @xxxblackvenomxxx Non-cliched lyrics are always a plus, but history has taught us that a band which sticks to a concept and provides not special but well-writen(or clever) lyrics can also become legendary and have mass appeal.

  • @pumpkingr Slayer is prime example. They've pretty much stuck with the same formula and fuckin melt faces!

  • @dwl250 pure nonsense you organic imaturity.

  • shut up.

  • @lukasrosenbauer They sound like IM more and more with every release. A Bit heavier though, which comes from GM's roots in doom.
